ShareMyToolbox is proud to offer The Tools for Success Scholarship — created to support students pursuing careers in construction and the skilled trades. We’re offering up to ten $500 scholarships each year to help cover tuition, required tools, and course materials.

Whether you’re headed to trade school, starting an apprenticeship, or working toward a degree in construction management, we want to invest in your future.

This year’s Tools for Success Scholarship, funded by ShareMyToolbox and made possible through the generosity of our incredible sponsors, celebrates students who are building bright futures in the trades.

From electrical apprenticeships to aviation maintenance, these winners are committed to mastering their craft, serving their communities, and carrying the trades forward with skill, integrity, and passion.

  • Awards: Up to ten scholarships of $500 each per year

Who Can Apply?

You’re eligible if you:

  • Are a U.S. or Canadian citizen or legal resident
  • Are enrolled or accepted into a construction-related program (trade school, apprenticeship, or college)
  • Are a high school senior, current student, or adult changing careers
  • Are sponsored by a current ShareMyToolbox customer
    (Don’t worry — it’s easier than it sounds! More on that below.)

ShareMyToolbox employees and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.

How to Apply

  1. Find a Sponsor:
    You’ll need to be recommended by a current ShareMyToolbox Business or Enterprise customer. This could be your employer, a contractor you’ve worked with, or someone in your network who uses ShareMyToolbox.
  2. Gather Your Materials:
    • Completed online application
    • A 500–800 word essay:
      “Why I Chose a Career in the Trades & How I Plan to Make an Impact in the Industry.”
    • Proof of enrollment (acceptance letter or transcript)
    • Sponsor form or letter of recommendation from your ShareMyToolbox sponsor
  3. Submit Before the Deadline:
    Applications are due by July 31, 2025

What’s Involved?

    • Confirm your customer status
    • Share why you’re recommending the applicant
    • Give permission to use your company name/logo if your applicant wins
  • There’s no financial obligation — we fund the scholarship. You’re just endorsing a great candidate and helping them take the next step.

Who Can Apply

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be a U.S. or Canadian citizen or legal resident.
  • Be enrolled or accepted into a trade school, apprenticeship, or construction-related college/university program.
  • Be a high school senior, current student, or adult learner switching careers.
  • Be sponsored by a current ShareMyToolbox Business or Enterprise customer (don’t worry — we explain this below).
  • Not be an employee or immediate family member of someone at ShareMyToolbox.

Family and friends of our paying customers are more than welcome to apply!

What You’ll Need

To apply, you’ll submit:

  • A completed online application.
  • A 500–800 word essay titled:
    “Why I Chose a Career in the Trades & How I Plan to Make an Impact in the Industry.”
  • Proof of enrollment, such as a transcript or acceptance letter.
  • A Sponsor Form filled out by a ShareMyToolbox customer (they’ll share why they’re supporting you, and give us permission to use their name/logo if you win).

How Winners Are Chosen

A selection committee made up of ShareMyToolbox leadership and one industry guest will review applications based on:

  • Passion for the Trades
    Shown through your essay and any hands-on experience (internships, projects, etc.)
  • Career Goals & Impact
    Clear goals, and how you want to make a difference in the field
  • Performance
    We’re not just looking for straight-A students — we want dedication and effort. We’ll look at transcripts and sponsor recommendations.

We also aim to spread awards across different regions, trades, and sponsors, with a limit of one winner per sponsor each year.

Award Details

We’re offering up to ten $500 scholarships per year. The funds must be used for:

  • Tuition or school fees
  • Tools or materials required for your course or training

We do this to keep things non-taxable — if funds are used for other purposes, recipients may be responsible for any tax implications.

If You Win…

We’d love to celebrate you! Winners agree to:

  • Let us share your name, school, trade, and story (with a headshot) on our website and social media.
  • Participate in a short follow-up interview for a blog or social post.
  • Let us check in down the road to see how things are going (because we care!).

The Fine Print

  • Incomplete applications or those missing required documents won’t be considered.
  • All decisions made by the selection committee are final.
  • Scholarship awards are not renewable, but past applicants are welcome to reapply in future years.
  • We reserve the right to modify or cancel the scholarship program at any time. But don’t worry — if you’ve already been awarded a scholarship, it won’t affect your funds.
